Questions about Necto Context
Short answers about what Necto Context does today, what is planned and how early access works.
Last updated 23 October 2026.
What is Necto Context?
Necto Context is a tool that answers questions about a software system from its code and Jira tickets, citing the file, line and commit or issue key behind every claim. It is in early development.
Which tools does it work with?
The current build reads a Git repository, including its Markdown files, and a Jira project. Connections to GitHub and Confluence are planned for the first version; other trackers and Git hosts are not.
How are answers cited?
Each line of an answer, apart from short headings and labels, carries a citation to its source: the file path, line range and commit for code, or the Jira issue key with the field or comment for tickets. See an example answer.
What happens when there is no source?
Necto Context does not guess. It removes every line it cannot cite, apart from short headings above cited lines. If no cited line is left, it says so in a fixed sentence.
How does it handle outdated information?
When a source changes after a fact was read, the fact is marked stale in every answer that uses it. When two sources disagree, both are shown with their citations.
Does Necto Context change my code or tickets?
No. It only reads, and a test in our build checks that a full sync makes no write calls to the repository or to Jira. Creating Jira stories after a person approves them is planned.
What if a ticket contains instructions aimed at the AI?
Necto Context treats source text as data. In our tests, it flags text like this and does not follow it.
Who makes the decisions?
People. In the planned decision board, agents will draft options and questions, and only a person will be able to mark a decision agreed or a story approved.
What does "stories AI can build from" mean?
A story with testable acceptance criteria, linked to the decision and the facts behind it, so that a coding tool does not have to guess. This is planned.
Which programming languages does it read?
The current build reads TypeScript and JavaScript code. Questions and answers are in English only.
Can I use it now?
Not yet. Necto Context is in early development and runs only in our own test setup. For now, early access is open to people and companies in the United States. Request early access and we will email you when there is a place.
What will it cost?
Pricing is not set yet. It will be based on the measured cost of running Necto Context.
Is my code used to train AI models?
No. We do not train models on your code or tickets. Anthropic, the model provider Necto Context uses by default, does not train its models on content sent under its commercial terms.
